About The Cooling and Wood Family
I invite you to have a look through our family history pages on this site. If you have any additional information that you feel may be useful, or any corrections to the information here, please drop me an email.
Access to this site is now unrestricted as due to illness I have been unable to keep up with all the requests to view the Family Tree. My sincere apologies to those to whom I have not been able to reply or act on information provided. I hope to have some more time to correct some of the entries and submit an updated tree later in 2010.
Our branch of the Cooling family appears to have originated in the area around Nottingham in England and eventually spread to South Australia with the arrival of my parents, sister Yvonne and me, aboard the `Strathaird` in September 1957.
The Wood family is a bit more of a mystery but again has its origins in England. Several generations ago, the first Wood arrived in Australia but we are still researching the details of where and when.
Other names in our ancestory for which I have information are :- Rivett, Revitt, Sim(m)s, Maylin(g), Johnson,(H)Enning Mills and Talbot. There are of course many others for which I am still searching.
My thanks to all those people who have contributed to this research so far.
I hope you find the site interesting and can make use of the information in your own research.
Tony Cooling

Getting Around There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.
In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool. |
